ALF on DVD! Cool, or not? I love the package, it's so awesome, but the most disappointing part was that it was EDITED!!! I have some ALF episodes on my computer, and they deleted minutes and minutes of the show, for example in Episode 13 (Mother and Child Reunion) - in the beginning ALF is making a mess, and wWilly and Kate are arriving (they were on supermarket), after that, Kate's mother knock the door, these are 2 or 3 minutes, but in the DVD the episodes begin when Kate's mother is knocking the door! What a shame. Also the ALF opening is not "the same" than the original. Sad, sad, sad. On the other hand, the extras are not excellent but they are very nice, I loved the original pilot. It was pretty cool. The image wasn't perfect, but it's watchable. Okay, that's it!, I think you should buy anyway, if you are an ALF fan of course.

Although it is really a treat to revive ALF´s 1st season there are some points which make this DVD not so great. This are the issues and flaws that I have noticed.

1) Being a true ALF fan I am really disappointed about the edited versions of every chapter included in this DVD. I really do not understand why they cut and deleted some scenes IN EVERY CHAPTER!!. The worst is that some ofthis deleted scenes appear on the final credits of some chapters (i.e when Willie builds the cage for Alf´s when we undergoes through his mood change) It´s really a shame.

2) The extras are not so great. The so-called trivia lacks imagination. They can do a great job with this character, but you cannot see it in this DVD.

3) Alf´s comments on the beginning of each DVD are really funny (but they do not make you forget about the cuts on the chapters, first you laugh, then you cry).

4) As an advice, and in my humble (but wise) opinion they should have included 2 things that are major fails (to me). First, captions (you can only read them if you program your TV set to do so). Second, there IS an EXCELLENT translation of the entire series in Spanish, why not include it as part of the set-up (which, by the way, is nowhere to be found). or at least subtitles???? They are loosing a lot of potential buyers (and besides, this could be a great extra).

My advice? If you think that "better have cut chapters that anything" is OK, then buy it. But be warned that you will miss really great moments of this series all thanks to a very bad edition (like I do). Another thing you cantry is to write to the company that compiled this DVD and complain, maybe they will listen (or at least explain why they deleted them). Is there any way that we can contact Paul Fusco or Tom Patchett or LionGate films? Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

It is great that ALF has finally come to DVD in seasons. I really like this DVD set but it has its negatives. The bad things about the DVD are that the episodes on the discs are not in TV debut order but are just jumbled aroundthe discs which is pretty confusing. The episode "Try To Remember" is all in 1 part on the disc but actually aired in 2 parts on TV. It says on the case that there is 25 season 1 episodes but there actually is 26 if you count "Try To Remember" as 2.There is also complaints that the set has edited episodes which is a little bit of a bummer. This DVD set has the best menus I have ever seen on DVD. ALF hosts them and if you don't pick something quick he will get upset with you. The special features are awsome! There's ALF trivia, a bloopers reel which is a must see and an un-aired pilot episode which I never heard of until I got my DVD set. You get all the season 1 episodes plus more for a great price. I recommend you get this DVD cause it is just plain awsome!

Although I'm thankful to have the ALF sitcom coming to DVD I was disappointed (overall) with this set. The first thing I noticed, even before loading the DVD, was the two overlapping discs on each side - I could hear the disc clanking around inside the case as I took it out of the shipping box. The next few things go hand in hand - the episodes are not in order, syndicated episodes were used, and the music was not original - need I say more? On the good side of the DVD I though the gag reel was hilarious! The reel was about 6 minutes 34 seconds of continuous laughter. It was great to see the unaired pilot and watch the trivia as well - even though the trivia was short it was still a good touch. Lions Gate Entertainment (in my opinion) did a pretty good job on the extras but neglected to apply the same quality to the rest of the set (packaging in particular). If season 2 were the same as season 1 I would probably still buy it. Why, because ALF is finally on DVD!
